I have seldom had enough good food prepared on tours by other than experienced cyclist caterers (Dixie Grill, Live Oak, Florida!!).  Clubs don't get it!  We will eat in town and we will drink 'adult beverages' in town.  It is a better adventure, seeking excellence.

Touring cyclists are not well served by convincing charities that we are easy marks - and that is what is accomplished by $10 grabbit breakfasts and expensive cheap-spaghetti dinners.

yes, the food is good enough. there have been memorable meals (like the fish boil last year on the last night in... hmmm Ashwaubenon? Yummy!

Breakfast is pretty consistent. bear in mind that some civic group is charged with getting it set up. I was happy to see oat meal and Peanut butter most mornings. Breakfast of Champions! Oatmeal with a dollop of PB in the bottom. topped with raisins, honey and or brown sugar. This will get you thru the morning darn tootin'!

Mid-day there is a civic group or town which will be in charge of the mid day snack. there is actually contest for who puts on the best mid-day ride stop, so some towns really roll out the red carpet with snacks and entertainment. If the Grotto has the mid-day on day two or three, watch out! They rolled out some AWESOME rhubarb crunch bars, homemade of course, which they sold for about 25 cents. Also Chambers of commerce will be there, doling out info about the town.

dinner is serviceable... hey, you will be hungry!

I would say the the evening meals were average, nothing to write home about but not terrible either. The breakfasts were pretty decent though and got us some good fuel to start out with. This year we opted to just take the breakfast portion of the meal plan. It seems we were always in town at night anyhow having a cold one so we might as well catch a meal. The nice thing about the Northwoods tour is, it is small enough that the cyclists don't overwhelm the local restaurants.
