So my first tour as a newbie is complete! I did it!! And what a ride it was! I was pretty nervous going into this tour, but this forum helped tremendously. I've asked a lot of questions and received a lot of great advice and tips.
I met so many great people on the ride! Calamity Jane, Esther, Jim, Ray Hahn, "Cyclepath" Pete, Dave (from Oshkosh), Shirley, Pat, Nancy, Kim, Dennis, and the list goes on . . . We were just "a hootin' and a hollerin'" down the road!
Since this was my first tour, I can't compare the support, but I thought it was super! Give me a place to sleep, a shower (hot or cool is fine), good food that I don't have to prepare, and I'm happy! And it was always a welcome sight to see the Water Buffalo come into view on the ride.
I really enjoyed the first-time rider meetings. Even though it dwindled down in numbers rapidly, those of us that met learned a lot from Ray. And my bike will now be happier because I learned better bike maintenance. My drive train will be shiny forever!
Thanks to all of you who answered my questions on this forum. You really helped me become so prepared!
Oh, and my apologies to everyone for probably being one of the earliest "zipper rippers" either inside or outside. I really did try to be quiet!
