Well, it's hardly realistic to summarize a week of riding. Suffice it so say... when you bike, you submit to the elements... and submit we did this year! It wasn't too terribly extreme.
By days end on Sunday, the heat index was up over 100F so that was a challenge. Hydration was the buzz word, and buzz we did! The last 6-7 miles into Stevens Point were a challenge with the heat and wind kicking up. The Recumbent shop was pretty cool too. Oh yeah, I rode with Aaron and Laura of 50 by bike (travelling to the geographic center of all 50 states) They were riding on the coolest craziest recumbent bike. I'm not sure how they are going to pedal across the Pacific... but they are pretty clever young folks so I'm sure they'll work it out.
Day two was lovely. Tailwinds, cooler temps, and good company. The Grotto was a great stop for food, and the cheese factory was cooool too.
Day three was a WINDY challenge, with some clouds and sprinkles.
Day four was the rainy day, but otherwise, cool and pleasant.
the end of the end of the week the temps were Perfect!
Sheesh... I can't go day by day. there were the usual days with cool water showers, but the food was fine (Mindy and I enjoyed an Anniversary dinner in Marshfield). We took in the Big Top show (hope the tent stops leaking!). The Talent Show was a huge hit and lots of great talent (a 9 year old pianist, a mime, and a jug band!) We directed a lot of biker traffic on get away day.
