thanks for the heads up. I'm riding to the start of the tour pulling a bob trailer with my gear (about 200 miles) so I guess I wasn't too concerned with the days/route.  When the ride is over I will pile my stuff back on the trailer and ride home. I hate the buss ride. not so bad on this tour but a real pain in the butt on GRAB.

Actually, SAG is only a 5 day ride this year.  As the directors did when they cut the Northwoods Tour from 7 to 6 days last year (although the 7th day on Northwoods had always been a free day to cycle or not), they did so quietly.  (I believe they have gone to the 6 1/2 days on this year's central route.)  I think they should have made it clear on the home page for SAG that it was "Now a 5 day ride."  I imagine there are some folks who signed up for the ride assuming it is still a 6 day ride.

not a hilly ride. SAG is designed as a shorter ride, 6 days, less miles per day and less hilly than GRAB.  more family oriented.  SAG did run in south west to south east WI one year. very hilly to start. this route is much flatter. I can't remember any serious "climbs" but you can't go many places  WI without some hills. If you choose to go off the route in the middle of the penisula you can find a couple good roller hills. I wouldn't worry. If we do have a couple hills there will be much flat in between.

I'm not sure if anyone knows the exact route as of yet.  You might have better luck finding out which of the main characters in the final Harry Potter book does not survive.  I am going to place my fate in the hands of the staff.  Trust me, if there are a lot of big hills it's better not knowing  :)

Can anyone give me an idea of the terrain for the ride?  I train a lot on rail trails.

actually quite a few county roads cross going east/west. center of county is very much like any other rural/farming part of wisconsin.

I did this ride last year. Most of the route was back roads, but I didn't know what to expect because there aren't that many roads in Door County at all....  I was pleasantly surprised at how little traffic we encountered!   Much less, actually, than many other areas of the state.

I did the tour a couple times a few years ago and didn't feel in danger from traffic. Route is mainly back road. Lots of bikes in an area seems to slow the traffic down as they become aware of us.  I like to get a lot of miles in during the tours. I don't know if the tour organizer would recomend this option but I did ride east/west across the pennisula on good county roads. Very little traffic in the interior of the county.

I'm considering doing the SAGBRAW this year with some friends but am concerned about the volume of traffic that we might experience in Door County at that time of year.  Anyone with experience on a bicycle in the summer in Door Co. I would like to hear from you.
