Here's a new thread to rate the Sagbraw ride. You can scale it from 1 to 10, list the best and/or worst things about the ride, give kudos, or mention areas for improvement. Now, remember the ride has new operators. OK, I'll start.
1 to 10, I would give it a solid 9.
Best: Seeing all the friends from earlier years.
Second Best: This would be a tie between the route, route markings, accuracy of the cue sheets and the food service. I thought the routes were very nice, well laid out and marked and the mileage on the cue sheets was about dead on. I didn't have the dinner with the food service, but I did have some great breakfasts and I'm sure the dinners were probably very good also.
Worst: 1. Would have to be noisy, rude neighbors. Some people need more beauty sleep than others. One look at me, and you would tell me to go get some sleep, lot's of sleep. People, remember not everyone has a desire to be on the road at 5 AM. A little respect for the near dead would be appreciated. I didn't choose to be this old, it just happened. Oh, and to Debbie and her significant other from Illinois, thanks for the earplugs, but I already had some in and could still hear you loud and clear.
Worst: 2. That would have to be the heat and headwinds. Can't do much about the weather. That week is traditionally the hottest week here in Wisconsin and prevailing winds are WSW to SSW. I suppose if I got up earlier I could have missed some of those 20 mph headwinds. But, then I would be out riding with Debbie and WhatsHisName.
Worst: 3. Ice water showers in Kewaunee. Stuff happens. Most of these buildings are shut down this time of year. So, this is the time to schedule maintenance.
In need of improvement: That would be the bike loading at the start. We are a patient lot. I understand they ran out of room for the bikes and had to order another truck. Some bikes take up more room than others. Maybe on the registration form for next year, there could be a line for what type of bike you are planning to ride.
Kudos: That would have to go to the sign-in process. That went very smoothly.
All in all, it was a good ride.
See you again next year,
Bill
