I was just passing the message on and I don't know what to tell you about but repellant.  I can tell you that the higher percentage of "DEET" in your bug repellant the less likely hood you will become a victim of the vampire mosquitoes of Wisconsin.

Thanks for the update on the Deer Flies-the question is will OFF work or do I need to get something stronger? I have the hydrocortisone cream ready!

Didn't even know you guys were participating, but glad you are, and thank you for the info, and in advance for your efforts during the ride.

Given the large geographic area the tour covers we utilize many different amateur radio repeaters along the way.  If you’d like a copy of the tours frequency plan feel free to email me off list and I’ll be happy to send you one.

I am not a radio operator but have been known to listen to the scanner occasionally.  What frequencies do you operate on during the ride?

Hey Everyone!

I’m one of the Ham Radio Operators that will be working SAG for this ride.  One of the other Hams from the Eagle River area wanted me to pass on the following message regarding Deer Flies in Northern Wisconsin.

“you might want to remind the folks on Bikewisconsin.com
forum that not only do we have mosquitoes up here that will use you as a refueling point but the darn deer flies are out and about, I got slammed a couple of times today.  So don't forget the "Off" and the  1 % Hydrocortisone, deer fly bite itches like crazy.”   Chuck Elquist – W9NWR

I also wanted to invite people to check out the Communications Bus that will be on site on Saturday.  The bus will be used for the tour SAG Command Center, it’s outfitted with Ham Radios, police, fire, aviation, and marine communications gear.  The owner of the bus is a ham by the name of AL Schmitz WB9CAP, there will also be information available for anyone interested in learning more about what being an Amateur Radio Operator is all about.

From all your SAG folk’s good luck on the ride and stay safe!
