A brewery rest stop. It sounds good to me.
I don't think we'll make Chippewa Falls, but I intend to stop for a brewery tour in Stevens Point. If I remember correctly, most of the riding day is over by the time we get there.

I also want to stop at the Hostel Shoppe (a mecca for recumbent enthusiasts) in Stevens Point. As I think about it, I figure I better do the bike shop before the brewery, it's probably a lot less expensive that way.
And a note to all the Wisconsin beer fans out there: I was in New Glarus yesterday, It looks like they are building a big new brewery just south of town. They ought to be able to keep up with the demand for Spotted Cow.

| last year the ride stayed over night in Stevens point. The brewery had tours discounted for riders Cost me a buck. The tour was interesting it is a small brewery. Thay have a small gift shop there also. They had a stand set up out side the brewery and had thee kinds of there beer we could sample all you wanted free. the boy scout was selling food right there also. I read some were that the brewery wasn't a rest stop but the rest stop is going to be close to the brewery.

I checked Google Earth and Chippewa Falls is 85 miles west of the route a bit much as a detour to get to the gift shop. Maybe we can get the bus driver to swing by on the way to Eagle River.
Need to do some more digging into this Stevens Point brewery tour possibility.
Less than a month. This weekend we are doing the big pre-ride conditioning. Should have 3 good days to push the training miles up.

Point is brewed in Stevens Point. It is on the route. I don't know anything about their brewery tours, but I know friends have done it. Good beer.
Leinies' is in Chippewa Falls, west of the route. Leinies' Red and Original are my favorites. Tours are available almost any time you stop by. Very cool gift shop called the Leinies' Lodge.

Interesting what make the evening news way down here in Tenn. Seems a Wisconsin Bar owner was serving Coors lite out of a Miller Lite tape. An offense worthy of a $172 ticket, yes, according to Port Washington police. Messing with beer, it seems, at least in this picturesque city along Lake Michigan, can lead to a keg full of trouble.

Seems pertty serious to me(on the lite news scale). Glad to see that the local inspectors can tell the difference.
I have herd of a Wisconsin beverage called Point beer. I think its source is on our route. Can anyone confirm this and are there brewery tours? Also I think Leinie's come from somewhere up there. It is also called Legend of the Northwoods. So it must be close by. Does anyone have any more info on Leinenkugel's?
