No "teams" per se, but some groups tend to ride together. Otherwise it's every man for him (or her) self. Certainly not hard to find a congenial crowd to ride with, tho.

Well you might be able to keep RonB2 for awhile. I won't be doing any more posting on the GRABAAWR forums since it looks like I'm going to be signing up for SAGBRAW instead of GRABAAWR.
I'd like to do GRABAAWR but if I want my son to go with me it'll have to be SAGBRAW. He's not willing to do GRABAAWR due to the added miles, since he was hurting on SAGBRAW last year. But at least now he knows why he needs to train.
I'll have to do some other rides as well, but I'll have to let SAGBRAW be the one tour this year, and then sneak in some shorter ones as well. But I plan on doing GRABAAWR next year. My son will be 18 then and it might be hard to get him to go with then, but you never know.
Enjoy the ride and I hope to catch up with you at some point!

RonB,
RonB2 here. I think I'll have to start posting under a different name, too close and you may embarass me with some of your postings. Or vice versa!
I'm riding solo and don't have any concerns in doing so. I've gone on 2 Ragbrai's solo and like having the option of riding with "new friends" or going alone, depending on the day/hour.
I agree with you on Ragbrai, but not so much for the heat as for the crowds. Last time I did it in 2006, the roads were just too packed. I'm going to plan on camping, other than if really bad wx is forecast, but will see once I get there. I do like the option, though. Definitely better scenery in WI. I've signed up for the breakfast option but plan to find local fare for dinner. Hope I can do so without too much hassle.
Maybe we'll meet up and ride together for a bit. I ride sort of like the "3 bears story". Not too fast, not too slow, but just right (for me anyway).
Soon to be the rider formerly known as RonB2

I rode SAGBRAW last year as my first week long tour, and really enjoyed it. I did it with my son. I'm going to do GRABAAWR this year and having to nudge my son a little to see if I can get him to go. I think he remembers how his lack of training last year affected him on the second and third day. So I'm not sure if I can get him to commit.
So if I can't get him to tag along, are there a lot of others out there going solo?
I've heard of some "teams" out there so I didn't know if there's that same sort of grouping similar to RAGBRAI.
I've got a good friend doing RAGBRAI for the n'th time, but I really have no desire to do RAGBRAI after doing single days of it and just dying in the heat the past couple of years. I like the Wisconsin way of staying indoors, not so much of a crowd that you can't find food, and the better scenery in Wisconsin. It's usually cooler in Wisconsin as well (a big point for me).
