I'll mention this to Ms. J. R., a fellow ANC Board member. By your description of the properties and coincidence with my understanding, I think I know who is your family on Washington Island. She is one of my favorite acquaintances.
Milady wife uses the NE corner property as inspiration for her watercolors. It is a beautiful property and has a spectacular and unique view of Dedtoit Harbor.

Hi
My son-in-law and daugher and grandson left for the island today....son in law is Ryan Anderson...his folks are Jon and June Anderson...Ryan was born on the Island and lived there until he was 5, Jon was born and raised on the island, and Ryan's grandfather was one of the schoolmasters...
Ryan's Dad and sisters own the house just south of the Nature Center and also the farm located on the northeast corner of Airport Road and Lakeview Road...there is only a silo (the barn blew down a few years ago) and a very nice remodeled farmhouse.
The kids got married in the field west of the Silo in July of 2001-had a very large tent!
Looking forward to meeting you....
Dave

Pleased to virtually-meet you and I'm looking forward to meeting you.
'Born on the Island' you say? That puts him in rare company, especially now-a-days.
I'm on the Art & Nature Center board.
Our home is the cottage on Mountain Road nearest the road. Cyclists are welcome to stop for air/water or a visit.
What 'more challenging ride?' The next one?

I feel like I know you already...did all the SABBRAWS from 1998 thru last year except for 1999....vacationed in Charleston last Easter...and my son in law was born on Washington Island...his dad and aunts still own property just north of the nature center and an old farmstead a little ways up from the harbor...
I am doing Bike Northwoods and SAGBRAW both this year....trying to graduate to that other more challenging ride....
Laid back Dave as in "bent Dave"

We have done a GRABAAWR (2004) and SAGBRAWs (03, 04, 06) in the process of acquainting ourselves with and moving to Wisconsin from Charleston, SC. We have done perhaps a dozen or more state bicycle tours (BRAG, Bike Fla, BAMA, CSC, CNC, NOT RAGBRAI) and an unsupported tour. And we're tired of big all-things-to-all-people tours, so BNT.
BNT will be different, the first time we have taken the motel option, before we have always tented. It will also be our first tour on our new trikes and the first in some time not on our tandem.
We will travel with a crewe of reprobates but I'll leave their introductions to them.
Our trikes are Greenspeeds, a GTO and a GLO. Our tandem is a BF DoubleDay, my single bike is a Vanguard (LWB recumbent) by Longbikes, Milady's is a Bike Friday AirGlide. Our alternates are an Austin Diamler (mine) and a Nishiki (hers).
We are Pat Clarke and Doug Huffman (doug.huffman@dcwis.com) of Washington Island, WI and late of Charleston, SC.
